Sal Filipelli

Multi-Instrumentalist and composer Sal Filipelli was twelve years old when his mother put him in piano lessons, which started a life-long love for creating music. Filipelli began playing the guitar, ukulele and occasionally bass during his high school years at SCPA (School For Creative & Performing Arts), where he began taking interest in composition.

Filipelli considers himself a composer first, having traveled all over theUnited States and Europe performing at various venues, radio stations and television shows with releases such as Not British Productions Presents 23rd Century, The Sal Filipelli Band (2006) and The Last Generation Of Tape (2008). Since 2008, Filipelli has produced several singles for various artists including “Take Me” and “Broken” with Sean Hart (2010).

In 2011, Filipelli worked as a City College Associated Students Senator where he was in charge of The Spring & Fall Concerts, while still composing songs for a new release. In 2013, he began working on new music with former Family Stone frontman Sly Stone, for an album also featuring Munyungo Jackson (Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder), Adrián Terrazas-González (The Mars Volta), Raw Syl (Sly Stone, Rufus), Omar López (B Side Players, The Original Wailers), Andra Day and others.

His upcoming album This Day In Music History was preceded by three singles; two written and recorded with Sly Stone, “One More Hit,” released in June 2014, on Filipelli’s birthday and “Role Model” released in September 2014. “Soon (I’ll be with You)”Featuring Reece & Nyk Tyler was released in July 2014.
